The Arboretum Team meets on Wednesday mornings from May through the end of September at Building 72, Arboretum. The team serves as a useful aid to the busy staff of the Arboretum, where handwork is always needed. Tools are provided by Friends of the Farm.
Arboretum Team activities include edging and weeding; the removal of suckers, dead and diseased wood; and selective pruning. Beds of deciduous and evergreen shrubs and small trees located throughout the Arboretum are cared for, as well as the flower bed at Building 72.
Team members find great satisfaction in seeing rare and familiar shrubs grow and bloom in health and beauty for all visitors to enjoy. Come enjoy the pleasure of good company, fresh air and exercise while meeting Potentilla, Philadelphus, Prunus and Pinus, Azalea, Taxus, Cotinus, Weigela, Rhododendon, Lespedeza, "Uncle Fogy" and all the others.
